WEST HAVERSTRAW - Hundreds turned out to raise money for a first-grader at Stony Point Elementary who was born with a rare disease.

Seven-year-old Angelica Hicks was born with Hirschsprung's Disease which has no cure and affects the nerves in her intestinal system.

Teachers from Stony Point Elementary and Farley Elementary, where Angelica's brother is a student, helped raise money yesterday at the Wendy's in West Haverstraw.

The teachers held a raffle, and Wendy's is donating part of its dinner-time sales to Angelica's family. Together, they raised more than $1,000. "Definitely wasn't expecting this, when we pulled in and it was absolutely amazing and very heart-warming. We're just so happy, and I can't say enough to everybody who has come out and continued to support my princess who is going through such a rough time in her life," says Angelica's mother Helena.
