Some undocumented workers and advocates in the area are now on a hunger strike.
Both groups came together Thursday at White Plains Presbyterian Church for a "Fast for the Forgotten" rally.
The rally was organized by Peekskill City Council Member Vanessas Agudelo.
They're putting pressure on state lawmakers to support legislation establishing a $3.5 billion fund for so-called excluded workers in the state budget.
Strikers say undocumented workers have been left behind throughout the pandemic.
The group says they will remain on strike inside White Plains Presbyterian Church until the budget is passed on April 1.
