Commuters and officials alike in Rockland and Orange counties are lashing out at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority for proposing service cuts in an effort to close its $400 million budget gap.

Commuters and officials alike in Rockland and Orange counties are lashing out at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority for proposing service cuts in an effort to close its $400 million budget gap.
If the MTA's plan goes forward, trains on the Pascack Valley and Port Jervis lines, which riders say are already overcrowded, will be cut.
"If anything, they should be running more trains," says commuter Terry Waters.
Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef says there is a $60 million gap between the services Orange and Rockland counties receive and the taxes they pay.
"It's a slap at every taxpayer," he says. "It's a slap at the businesses."
