James Bond technology speeds flyers through airport
Some futuristic technology will soon allow frequent flyers who use the Westchester County Airport to get through security checkpoints faster than ordinary travelers.
A demonstration of the Clear Airport Security Fast Pass took place at the airport Thursday. Travelers supply basic personal information online, then come to an enrollment station in the airport. At the station, air passengers get their fingerprints and a computer image of their iris imprinted on a special card. All of the information is matched with driver's licenses and passports to prove identities. That information is then given to the federal Transportation Security Administration, which currently oversees the security lines at the airport. The fee for the service is $100 a year.
Clear company founder Steven Brill says only U.S citizens or current legal residents can apply for the registry. The system is fully financed through subscription fees and costs the county nothing to operate. Brill says the security technology, which will start being used next week, is foolproof.
