It only took the jury a few hours to convict an illegal immigrant in the brutal murder of a New City wife and mother.

Irene Simpson is a mother of two from Nanuet and served on the jury at the Mary Nagle murder trial. Simpson listened to two weeks of arguments, evidence and testimony in the case against Ronald Douglas Herrera-Castellanos, 30, who was accused of raping, stabbing and strangling Nagle to death in her home last April. Simpson says it was difficult to watch Nagle's husband on the stand and listen to testimony from the medical examiner who looked at the body. But for her, the DNA evidence absolutely clinched it for the prosecution.

Herrera was found guilty on 15 felony counts including seven counts of first-degree murder. Simpson says she will go to Herrera's sentencing on May 15. Herrera faces life without parole.
