WHITE PLAINS - A judge has dismissed a motion by Kerry Kennedy's lawyers to throw out the drugged-driving case against her.
With the case moving forward, selection for a jury is underway and is expected to last through tomorrow. A total of 62 people are being interviewed by lawyers for the six-person panel. There will also be a number of alternates selected for the trial.
Kennedy was charged with drugged driving in 2012 after her Lexus hit a tractor-trailer on I-684. She says she accidentally took a sleeping pill instead of thyroid medication.
Opening arguments for the Kennedy case are set to begin Monday at the Westchester County Courthouse in White Plains. The case was moved to White Plains from North Castle last month after the defense lawyer said the town court was too small for such a high profile case.
