Some children who are battling major illnesses got to enjoy some fun in the sun away from the hospital in Rockland County Monday.
More than 80 families traveled from area Ronald McDonald Houses and various hospitals to mingle with police officers at the Camp Grounds in
Pomona.
The kids got to play, eat, swim, and tour some law enforcement vehicles. "Hopefully they get a piece of it all so they have a nice memory and keep their mind off of what they are going through,” says Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco. “We stay for so long indoors so the fact that we can go outside is very good, very awesome because you feel like you're in prison in the hospital,” says leukemia patient Luis Suero..
Parents say the annual event is a healing experience for the entire family.
