Kiryas Joel officials request 164 acres from Monroe
Kiryas Joel village officials have whittled down the amount of land they want to annex from the town of Monroe.
Kiryas Joel originally requested 507 acres, and now the amount is down to 164 acres.
They downsized the request because the smaller parcel is already approved for development. The request for the 507-acre parcel is still in place.
Kiryas Joel Administrator Gedalye Szegedin said Thursday that the village intends to declare itself as the lead agency in the environmental review process, unless the town board disagrees.
News 12 calls to town officials for comment have not been returned.
