Latimer: Westchester County Center cancels vaccine appointments for Tuesday

Latimer says those appointments will be given priority when rescheduling.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer has declared a state of emergency for Westchester County due to the nor’easter. Latimer said that the state of emergency would last until Feb. 4 at the earliest.

He also gave a update on a number of issues regarding COVID-19 and the nor'easter.

There are 609 new cases in the county and a total of 10,546 active cases. A total of 1,906 deaths have occured during the pandemic.

The vaccination center at the Westchester County Center was closed today, and all appointment have been canceled tomorrow. Latimer says those appointments wil lbe given priority when rescheduling.

High school sports are set to resume this week. He says schools will be given test kits to monitor the athletes.

Health officials are looking at distancing regulations in schools, but says the county doesn't have the final decison.

Schools won't be able to open to in-person learning on a consistent basis until teachers and staff are vaccinated.

This storm system is going to be a multi-day event. People should stay home because the storm is going to get worse.

While the airport is open, the are no flights scheduled at this time. Bee-Line bus and Paratransit service is suspended for the day. No decision about buses has been made yet for tomorrow.
