Latimer: Westchester County Center cancels vaccine appointments for Tuesday

Latimer says those appointments will be given priority when rescheduling.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer has declared a state of emergency for Westchester County due to the nor’easter. Latimer said that the state of emergency would last until Feb. 4 at the earliest.
He also gave a update on a number of issues regarding COVID-19 and the nor'easter.
  • There are 609 new cases in the county and a total of 10,546 active cases.  A total of 1,906 deaths have occured during the pandemic.
  • The vaccination center at the Westchester County Center was closed today, and all appointment have been canceled tomorrow. Latimer says those appointments wil lbe given priority when rescheduling.
  • High school sports are set to resume this week. He says schools will be given test kits to monitor the athletes.
  • Health officials are looking at distancing regulations in schools, but says the county doesn't have the final decison.
  • Schools won't be able to open to in-person learning on a consistent basis until teachers and staff are vaccinated.
  • This storm system is going to be a multi-day event. People should stay home because the storm is going to get worse.
  • While the airport is open, the are no flights scheduled at this time.  Bee-Line bus and Paratransit service is suspended for the day. No decision about buses has been made yet for tomorrow.

  • Only absolutely essential county employees are required to work.
