Lead FBI agent takes the stand in 'Newburgh Four' trial
The lead FBI agent took the stand yesterday in the trial against the four men who are accused of plotting to blow up two Bronx synagogues and shoot down military airplanes at Stewart Air Base.
The agent testified about how the alleged operation worked and the arrangement the FBI had with the confidential informant who was paid nearly $100,000 for their services.
The agent also displayed the fake weapons that were built by the FBI. The defendants allegedly believed the weapons were coming from a radical Islamic group based in Pakistan.
The defense cross-examined the agent and he testified that the group had not asked for the bombs to be made and that he, and not the suspects, designed the bombs.
