A classic Christmas movie came to life in Northport Saturday night.
Hundreds of people crowded around the window of Carl's Candies on Main Street for the "Leg Lamp Lighting."
The annual event is based on the movie "A Christmas Story" and included a portrayal of the scene in which "the old man" proudly displays the lamp in the house's front window.
"It's a fun, quirky tradition, just like this town. It's a very quaint maritime, little village,” says Gina Nisi, of Carl’s Candies. “It's a great opportunity to bring people in."
The event also featured dancers from Northport High School and some excerpts from “The Nutcracker” performed in the middle of Main Street.
