Residents across Long Island are preparing for the fourth nor’easter of the month on the first day of spring.
A winter storm warning for western Suffolk and Nassau counties has been issued from midnight through 8 a.m. Thursday. It has the potential to bring 10 inches of snow to the area.
News 12 meteorologists say the snowfall could be heaviest during Wednesday’s evening rush hour
Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino said that Wednesday will be a “long and arduous day” for Department of Public Works crews who are pretreating roads and gearing up snow removal operations.
“We're shifting crews around to where the priority areas are, where the snow will be the deepest,” he told News 12.
PSEG Long Island says it had crews run system checks Tuesday. There will also be additional contractors and tree crews on hand if needed.
The Long Island Rail Road says waiting rooms at all stations will remain open throughout the storm.
