Local company offers BP oil spill cleaning mix for Gulf
With oil still gushing into the Gulf of Mexico more than a month after a rig explosion, a company in Spring Valley is now offering to help.
U.S. Polychemical has been in touch with BP about using Dispersit, a product the company manufactures that is geared toward breaking up oil spills.
Bruce Gephardt, of U.S. Polychemical, says it would take 7-10 days to produce and ship 15,000 gallons of Dispersit to the Gulf, but for now, BP is using a product called Corexit to try and break up the spill. Gephardt insists their product is greener and better.
"We're a third less toxic and we're 100 percent effective," he says.
