Lord and Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue fall victim to data breach

Lord and Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue and Saks Off Fifth fell victim to a massive data breach as hackers have stolen records for more than 5 million credit and debit cards used at the stores.
The breach began last May.
Hudson’s Bay Company, which owns the chains, confirmed that the websites for the stores were not breached.
The company said it is investigating the breach and taking steps to contain the attack and that customers won’t be liable for fraudulent charges.
Customers will be notified if their information has been stolen, according to the company.
Customers at the stores will be offered free identity protection services, and there is no indication that Social Security or driver’s license numbers were stolen.
