Major upgrades proposed for Stewart International Airport
Major upgrades have been proposed for Stewart International Airport. A report shows thousands of people from the Hudson Valley region travel into and out of the airport located in New Windsor.
Officials now want to upgrade the facility to accommodate even more travelers. Proposed plans include a new highway leading to the airport, the introduction of an international terminal and a connection to the Metro-North railroad. Some residents worry about the increase in traffic the expansion would bring. However, others say they want more flight options at a local airport.
Officials say the price tag for the expansion project is $500,000 million. The plans are currently under review by the FAA. If approved, development could begin in the next two years.
