A 21-year-old has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing an elderly Sullivan County homeowner.

Brian Scott, of Mamakating, has been charged with attempted murder.

Police say he fooled an elderly couple to gain entry to their home before he repeatedly stabbed one of the homeowners.

Police also say Scott was spotted carrying a weapon and wearing a mask on the street.

Officers were able to arrest him without incident and said it’s still unclear on what the motive was. 

The homeowner who was stabbed was treated and released from the hospital.
