Town officials in Mamaroneck say they are bracing for possible flooding from Elsa.
So far, there are no signs of flooding at the intersection of Waverly and Plaza avenues, but village officials say the area is prone to flooding every time a storm moves through. They say barricades are always nearby and on standby in case of flooding.
Village officials say the Sheldrake River is also a problem during storms. They say that every area that runs along the river is a problem area for flooding, as well as the Washingtonville area. They also have barricades in those areas that are ready to be set up if the streets become too dangerous again.
When Tropical Storm Isaias came through the area, News 12 was told that more than half of the residents lost their power. Cars were also damaged and telephone poles came down. Official say they want to make sure that doesn't happen again.
