A Blooming Grove man is accused of trying to kill his mother.

Salvatore Brancato is being held in Orange County jail for an attempted murder charge. According to police, Brancato and his mother got into a verbal altercation which then turned violent, and he began to strangle her.

Brancato fled by the time the cops reached his Blooming Grove home, but was arrested a short time later.
