A man from Bridgeport has been acquitted in the fatal shooting of an aspiring musician who police say likely was mistaken for the victim's twin brother.
According to the Connecticut Post, a Superior Court jury deliberated for two days before finding Tavaris "Tex" Daniels, 25, not guilty of murder and possession of a pistol without a permit.
Daniels was accused in the Dec. 21, 2011 fatal shooting of Dayquan Henry, 21.
Henry was attending a friend's birthday party in Bridgeport when he was approached by a man in a hooded sweatshirt and shot in the abdomen.
Police say the shooter likely confused Dayquan Henry with Dayton Henry, who had a criminal record for dealing drugs.
Dayton Henry was later convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison for shooting another man in what prosecutors said was retaliation for his twin's death.
