Man allegedly steals $80K from woman he met on Bumble

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office says 21-year-old Michael Benedetto, who they say is currently without an address, defrauded the woman he had been dating by “telling her a series of lies that induced her to give him money under false pretenses.”

An Orange County woman had the worst date of her life, as prosecutors say she fell victim to an $80,000 scam by a man she met on a popular dating app.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office says 21-year-old Michael Benedetto, who they say is currently without an address, defrauded the woman he had been dating by “telling her a series of lies that induced her to give him money under false pretenses.”
Prosecutors say that the two met on Bumble in 2020.
Benedetto was charged with grand larceny and was arraigned in New Windsor Town Court. He faces up to five to 15 years in prison if convicted.
Authorities say due to bail reform changes, Benedetto was issued an appearance ticket and released
