A man was found shot to death inside a basement apartment in Newburgh Wednesday.

Authorities tell News 12 that the victim was found inside a home on Chambers Street around 12 p.m.

A police source tells News 12 that the incident appears to have unfolded during a botched drug-related robbery.

Police say a 63-year-old man was found dead in a basement apartment. News 12 has learned that the victim, whose identity has not been released, was shot once in the head.

This is the fifth homicide in Newburgh this year.

News 12 tried to speak with neighbors in the area, but everyone was too scared to talk.
