(AP) - A man convicted of killing Hudson Valley restaurant magnate Cosimo DiBrizzi has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Dennis Sweeney was convicted on 23 counts for fatally shooting DiBrizzi and injuring his son Nicolas during a burglary at the victims' mansion in Balmville, a hamlet north of Newburgh.
The 64-year-old Dibrizzi, who owned some 60 restaurants from New York to Florida, died months after the May 2004 shooting.
Montgomery resident Sweeney was sentenced Wednesday in Orange County Court. The 59-year-old was also sentenced to 25 years to life for shooting Nicolas and another seven years for handgun possession.
Police arrested Sweeney in late 2007 based on a DNA sample taken when he went to prison in 2006 for breaking into cars.
