A memorial service was held in Mississippi to remember the U.S. service members killed last year in a plane crash, including Sgt. Owen Lennon, of Pomona.
Military members, veterans, and families gathered in the Mississippi Delta to honor the 15 Marines and Navy corpsmen who died in July of last year when a military plane crashed into a soybean field in Mississippi.
Lennon and other New York servicemen were aboard the plane.
A permanent monument now stands in the site in their honor that includes a plane surrounded by red stripes.
Owen Lennon had joined the Marines in 2010 after he graduated from Ramapo High School. He was only 26 when he was killed in the crash.
The cause of the plane crash has not been released.
