Measles contracted by Orange Co. boy

GOSHEN - A measles alert has been issued in Orange County.

The Orange County Health Department says a 13-year-old boy tested positive for the highly contagious disease and is now recovering at home.

Officials are not saying exactly where the child is from, but do say everyone who may have been exposed has already been contacted.

The health department is now advising anyone with a rash and fever to call their doctor immediately. They say a person is considered immune if he or she has received two doses of Measles, Mumps, and Rubella(MMR)vaccine or if born before January 1, 1957 or has a history of laboratory-confirmed measles or has a blood test confirming measles immunity.
