HAVERSTRAW - Members of the Hudson Valley Marine Trade Association met with Tappan Zee Bridge project officials Thursday in Haverstraw to address safety concerns heading into the boating season.

Brian Conybeare, Gov. Cuomo's special advisor on the new bridge, says large safety signage that can be spotted from a distance will be out on the river this year. Police marine units will also be out in full force, covering more of the river more often.

Safety zones near the construction site are also awaiting approval from the U.S. Coast Guard, says Conybeare.

Safety concerns were raised after last summer's tragic accident in which a Rockland bride-to-be and her fiance's best man were killed when the boat they were riding in crashed into a construction barge at night.
