Michael Mele, the man police say was the last person seen with slain dancer Laura Garza in 2008, was sentenced today to one year in the Orange County Jail for stealing an American Express card.
Prosecutors say the theft came to light while police were searching Mele's Middletown home in connection with Garza's disappearance.
Mele was never charged with Garza's death, but prosecutors say he remains their number one suspect and they are still investigating.
Garza's body was found in April in a Pennsylvania field after a 17-month search.
