A Middletown mom is thanking her community for their help after losing everything in a house fire before Christmas.
Hilda Cotten and her four children were left homeless on Dec. 23 after a fire in their home.
Cotten tells News 12 that neighbors, friends and strangers donated clothes, money and a place to stay after the ordeal.
Although their Christmas gifts were destroyed in the fire, Cotten says the greatest gift received has been community support.
“I just want to thank every single person who still has a heart, because I didn’t think that anyone had one anymore,” says Cotten. “I appreciate everything everyone has done for me and my kids.”
More than $2,800 has been raised to help Cotten and her children.
