Police in Middletown are investigating the shooting of a 20-year-old man in what they believe is a gang-related incident.

Police say the victim was shot in the thigh in a backyard off North Avenue. They say the victim was able to make it to an apartment and call 911. The victim claims he was boxing outside when he was hit by a bullet.

Police believe the shooting may have been a form of retaliation.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Middletown Police Department at 343-3151.
