Missing New City woman found alive in West Nyack
A missing New City woman was found alive in West Nyack Wednesday night.
Around 10:40 p.m., police say Denise Gruffi was found near the United Water facilities on Old Mill Road in West Nyack. The 57-year-old went missing from her home in New City around 7 a.m. Tuesday, failing to show up for her job at nearby Link Elementary School.
Family members say she had been depressed about her health and was on medication, and her husband found a note saying she may try to harm herself.
Gruffi was found after West Nyack residents reported a suspicious person wandering around their neighborhood on Wednesday night.
Police say Gruffi didn't have too much to say when asked why she vanished. She did state she just wanted to clear her head and walk around.
Gruffi was taken to Nyack Hospital for treatment for exposure, but otherwise seems alright.
Police plan to interview Gruffi again.
