(AP) - A woman accused of strangling her18-year-old daughter apparently tried to kill herself with hersocks Thursday while on suicide watch, a Westchester Countyspokeswoman said.
Stacy Pagli, 37, had also attempted suicide after the stranglingMonday, police said.
At about 8 a.m. Thursday, in her cell at the Westchester CountyJail, Pagli took off her socks and wrapped them around her neck in"an apparent suicide attempt," said county spokeswoman DonnaGreene.
She said Pagli was lying down at the time.
Jail guards interrupted her and she was uninjured, Greene said.However, she was taken to the emergency room of the WestchesterMedical Center as a precaution.
"She's fine," Greene said.
Pagli was charged Wednesday with the murder of her daughterMarissa, a freshman, in their apartment on the campus ofManhattanville College in Purchase. Stacey Pagli had attemptedsuicide and was unconscious when her husband, a college maintenanceworker, discovered the daughter's body, police said.
Police would not say how Stacey Pagli she tried to kill herselfMonday. At her Wednesday arraignment, however, she had a bandage onher left wrist.
Westchester County prosecutor Tim Ward asked the arraignmentjudge to order a suicide watch for Pagli because "she definitelyhas attempted to kill herself."
No motive for the strangling has been made public.
