Monroe-Woodbury School District Superintendent Ed Mehrhof has been fired.
Sources told News 12 that Ed Mehrhof was fired by a 6-3 vote, with three of those votes reportedly coming from members who lost their re-election bids. Mehrhof says he hasn't gotten any official information about "the accusations, charges or rationale" behind the board's decision, and that the district would only say it's in the "best interests" of the community.
Mehrhof has been outspoken against the Kiryas Joel annexation, and community group United Monroe tweeted a comment of his that possibly links the superintendent's termination to his support of the anti-annexation movement.
Meanwhile, longtime educator Elsie Rodriguez has been appointed as interim superintendent.
