Police in Ramapo are trying to figure out why a local man was storing more than 80 guns, drugs and thousands of dollars in cash inside his Monsey home. Police made the alarming discovery after neighbors reported hearing shots fired outside a house on Lyncrest Drive. When police arrived, they saw 45-year-old Matthew Pearl in camouflage and armed with a rifle. When they told Pearl to stop shooting, police say he ran away leading them on an hour chase. Finally, with the help of a police helicopter and K-9 unit, police cornered Pearl and arrested him. After searching his house, they found the stash and charged him with reckless endangerment in the first degree and criminal possession of marijuana. Pearl is being held in the Rockland County Jail. He's expected back in court on Thursday.
