Town officials are asking for public input on what to do with a historic home that has been lifted from the grounds of a new Amazon site.

with a historic home that has been lifted from the grounds of a new Amazon
site.
The Arnott-Haber house was built in 1820. In October, the
town lifted and moved the home from the new entrance to an Amazon warehouse off
routes 17 K and 747.
News 12 is told Amazon agreed to preserve and donate the
property, rather than demolishing it upon purchase.
"Preserving history in the Town of Montgomery is so
important to me and so many residents in Montgomery and to be able to take a
piece of our history and also create an adaptive reuse with a public benefit is
really exciting,” says Montgomery Supervisor
Brian Maher.
The Arnott-Haber house was first inhabited by farmer James
Arnott. It remained family-owned until the 1930s.
The residence has remained vacant for the past 20 years.
