More than 1,000 turn out for funeral of Pearl River man electrocuted
More than 1,000 people turned out for the funeral Friday of a Pearl River man who was electrocuted.
Mourners paid their final respects to 45-year-old Michael Shortell, a New York City police inspector, at St. Margaret?s Church in Pearl River. NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly was in attendance along with hundreds of fellow officers from the force.
Police say Shortell was electrocuted after stepping in a puddle that had an electrical line running through it. Shortell was attempting to clear water from his flooded basement. Shortell will be buried Saturday in Nanuet.Related storyPearl River man dies after being electrocuted
