Traffic stalled commuters on the New England Thruway this morning after a multi-vehicle accident, police say.

The accident, involving at least two tractor-trailers and a state police car, occurred on the northbound side of I-95 shortly before 5 a.m. Traffic stretched back for miles - from exit 18B all the way to New Rochelle.

Emergency crews worked to clear the scene, but it took close to two hours before lanes could be reopened.
