Parents in Nanuet are on edge after a man tried to lure a young girl into his car Tuesday.

Police say shortly before 11 a.m. a 9-year-old girl who was shoveling snow was approached by a driver on Oakland Place. They say the man motioned for the girl to come to the car and offered her candy. However, she quickly ran inside. Police scanned the neighborhood but nothing turned up. Officials say the man was driving a new silver four-door vehicle with a dent on the right side by the headlight.
