A Nanuet woman was arrested for posing as a physical therapist and getting paid about $25,000 from various health centers were she worked.
Authorities say 39-year-old Caryn Dinetz stole the identity of Karen Levine to become a licensed physical therapist. While using that name, she worked at health care centers in Rockland, Orange, Westchester and Manhattan. The Manhattan?s District Attorney?s office says Dinetz was able to fool job placement agencies and obtain work were she was paid about $25,000. The assistant district attorney says Dinetz deceived several patients, placing them in great danger.
The real Karen Levine discovered the identification theft and reported it to authorities. Dinetz is facing a whole list of charges, which if convicted, could put her behind bars for at least 12 years.
