A national campaign that kicks off Monday will force drivers in Westchester and the Hudson Valley to buckle up.
Police in White Plains set up a checkpoint on Main Street as part of the ?Click It or Ticket? campaign. Over the next two weeks, until June 4, checkpoints will also be set up throughout Westchester and the Hudson Valley. Drivers not wearing seat belts face up to $100 fines if caught by police.
The campaign was started as a way for police to remind drivers to buckle up before the summer travel season begins. Law enforcement officials say since seat belt patrols started more people are using seatbelts.
