City and county police, as well as a K-9 unit, blocked off multiple streets in a quiet residential area of Rye Sunday evening.

Neighbors who didn't want to go on camera told News 12 that police told them they were searching for a possible gunman near Mead Pond, right off of busy Theodore Fremd Avenue.

Rye police would not confirm the nature of the search.
