Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the opening of a new disaster recovery center in Rockland County Friday.

The new facility will provide information, assistance and help for New Yorkers who were impacted by the storms and flooding caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida.

The location will have disaster recovery specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration to answer questions about federal assistance for homeowners, renters and business owners.

“Rockland County was one of the areas hit hard by Hurricane Ida and opening another Disaster Recovery Center will bring help to homes and businesses that need it,” Hochul said in a statement.

Rockland County Executive Ed Day said that he encourages residents that need help applying for disaster assistance to visit the center as soon as possible.
