New initiative hopes to take bite out of dog fighting rings
A new initiative launched in Newburgh is taking aim at putting an end to dog fighting rings.
The Hudson Valley SPCA and the Humane Society of the United States have teamed up to stop the cruelty by posting flyers across Newburgh. The posters say if you call in a tip and it leads to an arrest and conviction, then you will be rewarded with $5,000.
Police say increased gang activity in the area has led to a spike in dog activity fighting. They say it is big business.
