Congregation Eitz Chaim finally opened its doors in Monroe after four years of construction.

The new synagogue, which will serve 140 families, experienced some bumps in the road. In November, acts of vandalism left several windows smashed and lights broken. But the synagogue?s rabbi, Adam Kligfeld, said he got plenty of support from congregants and the area?s non-Jewish community. Now, the house of worship has opened its doors.

?What will be extraordinary is what we fill it up with,? said Kligfeld. ?That?s the next step of the process.?

The synagogue also features a social hall and a Hebrew day school.
