New Rochelle firefighter rescues teens stranded in Long Island Sound
Two teenage boys stranded in a kayak for more than eight hours were rescued by a New Rochelle firefighter Friday. According to officials, the 16-year-olds were two miles off the coast of New Rochelle in the Long Island Sound when off-duty Fire Captain Eric Lore came to their rescue. The boys, who left from Sea Cliff, Long Island, were using two by fours to paddle when they were towed to safety. Officials are investigation how and why the teens wound up in the area. Both were treated for hypothermia and released to their parents.
