Newburgh hosts 'Night Out' against crime
Community groups held a "National Night Out" against crime in Newburgh Tuesday that they hope will bridge a perceived gap between the police and local residents.
The effort is aimed at trying to stop violence in the city, which has seen massive FBI raids in the past year. Officials say the crime rate in Newburgh has led to Orange County being designated as a federal high-intensity drug trafficking area.
Newburgh was one of thousands of communities across the nation that participated in the "National Night Out" against crime.
