A Newburgh man allegedly tried to steal items from a Rockland grocery store at knifepoint.
Orangetown police say Steven Rutkowski tried to take items from a Shop Rite in Pearl River Friday without paying.
When confronted by security, police say the 38-year-old began fighting and pushed a person to the ground.
He then allegedly pulled out a knife and threatened employees with it.
Police eventually subdued Rutkowski. He is facing several charges, including felony robbery and criminal possession of a weapon
