Pete Ruf is the weekend sports anchor for News 12 Hudson Valley.
Pete Ruf joined News 12 Hudson Valley and with him came his sense of humor, enthusiasm for local teams and a vast knowledge of sports history.
Among his many accomplishments, Pete has reported on Tiger Woods and his return to the Buick Classic in 2000. He's also covered the NBA Playoffs, NHL Playoffs, World Series, High School Football, Basketball State Finals and the NFL.
Before joining News 12, Pete was the Sports Director at Bronxnet Television in the Bronx. While there, Pete hosted an hour-long weekly call in sports show and did commentary for Monroe College basketball games.
Pete has received Telly Awards for Teeing Off At The Classic 2004, 2005 a PGA Tour golf special on the Barclays Classic.
He eceived the Section One high school athletic directors community service Award in 2006.
Born in Dutchess County, Pete went to high school at John Jay East Fishkill. Pete went to college at Syracuse University were he graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. Currently he lives in Fishkill New York, was married in June of 2006. He can't play enough golf and in the winter he likes hitting the slopes to do some skiing. His biggest inspiration is his mother. She was a school teacher for 20 years and thinks his love for covering high school sports comes from her.
