Walt Fowler has been the News 12 Westchester Sports Director since the station's inception in 1995.

In 2005 the station expanded its coverage to include Rockland County and Orange County and is now known as News 12 Westchester/Hudson Valley.

Walt anchors four daily sportscasts featuring comprehensive coverage of the latest top local high school, college and professional happenings throughout the region.

Walt has received various awards for his work at News 12 including two New York Emmy Nominations(2010/2013); the 2009 Saint Thomas Aquinas College Lifetime Achievement Award; mulitple Telly Awards; the 2007 Rocky Marciano Media Award from the American Association of International Boxing and a Section 1 Community Service Award.

Prior to coming to News 12 Westchester, Walt worked for Cablevision hosting various programs such as "High School Sports Night", "Game of the Week" and Summer Sports Night", a two-time Cable Ace Winner for Best Sports Series.

Walt’s broadcasting career began as a radio dj and play-by-play announcer at WHSC in Hartsville, South Carolina. Two years later he had a similar role with WCSS in Amsterdam, New York.

Walt, his wife Chrissie and their youngest son Danny live in Long Beach. Walt and Chrissie's oldest son Kenny, their daughter-in-law Lauren and grandson Thomas live in Newnan, North Carolina.
