SPRING VALLEY - A $10 million project is underway in Spring Valley to fix a long-standing flooding problem.

Construction has begun on the Pascack Brook bypass culvert to fix chronic flooding problems in the neighborhood.

Roads are expected to be closed for up to three weeks on Union Road at the intersection of Stonehouse Drive and King Terrace.

While it might be a hassle for drivers, residents say they are thrilled to hear that the project could provide relief from the flooding that has plagued the area for years.

A temporary traffic detour route has been established along Route 45 from Erickson Road to Maple Avenue.
