82-year-old WC resident climbs all 46 Adirondack Mountain peaks

YONKERS - One Westchester man can now boast that he is the oldest person to climb all 46 Adirondack Mountain peaks.

Jerry Levine, who will turn 83 next month, finished climbing the final two Adirondack Mountains , Esther and Whiteface, on Saturday. Levine says the trek was about 12 miles and took him more than 7 hours to complete.

Since 1925, over 7,000 people have hiked all 46 peaks, but Levine is the oldest on record to have done it.

Levine began casually hiking the mountains 38 years ago, but after suffering a heart attack at age 71, he decided to climb all of them.

His next goal, Levine says, is to climb all 46 peaks again, but with his grandchildren.
