9/11 first responder laid to rest

PEARL RIVER - A 9/11 first responder from the Hudson Valley who passed away from illnesses suffered after helping at Ground Zero was laid to rest today.

Funeral services for FDNY firefighter Joseph O'Toole, 61, of Pearl River, were held at St. Aedan's Church in Pearl River this morning.

O'Toole died at home Monday after a long battle with cancer. He had spent five months working at Ground Zero after the Twin Towers collapsed in 2001. O'Toole had worked for nearly 20 years at a Bronx firehouse.

O’Toole is survived by his wife Christine, three children and five grandkids.
